The Master's Degree Course in Environmental Sciences aims to train graduates with a high degree of interdisciplinary cultural preparation in the field of Environmental Sciences, including that of Impact Assessment, Strategic Environmental Assessment (VAS) and Environmental Certification, which allows you to exercise highly responsible functions in various areas of public administration (universities, state and para-state bodies, local public bodies) and private bodies and companies through the performance of scientific (research and design) and application activities (control and consultancy). Being a course of study that prepares professionals with mastery of the scientific method and the ability to use innovative methodologies and complex equipment, the professional opportunities of the Graduate in Environmental Sciences concern activities related to the analysis, monitoring and management of environmental resources, systems environmental and territory and the assessment of the quality of the environment.
Access to the Master's Degree Course in Environmental Sciences is conditional on: a) the possession (at the time of enrollment) of university training credits obtained as a result of activities that overall, due to their contents and their breadth, make it possible to successfully follow a training course on Environmental Sciences. This condition is already verified for candidates in possession of a degree from the class L-32 Sciences and Technologies for the Environment and Nature (ex DM 270/04) or a degree from the class 27 Sciences and Technologies for the Environment and Nature ( ex DM 509/99) or degree in Natural Sciences (systems prior to DM 509/99). For candidates with degrees from other courses, the regulation will establish the curricular requirements in terms of adequate skills in areas that compete for Environmental Sciences. b) the adequacy of the student's personal preparation in relation to the educational objectives of the course of study.
To get access to the course the candidate should have a minimum of 18 credits in the following scientific sector groups: Group 1) at least 6 credits (in the sectors MAT/01-09) Group 2) at least 6 credits (in the sectors: CHIM/01/02/03/06/12, BIO) Group 3) at least 6 credits (in the sectors: FIS, GEO) A special Commission will verify through a personal interview the adequacy of individual preparation in areas that compete for Environmental Sciences, i.e. the possession of basic university knowledge of mathematics, biology, chemistry, ecology, physics, meteorology and earth sciences . Furthermore, a good knowledge of the English language will be verified; Those who can document the passing of an English language university exam or possess adequate competence in the English language are exempt from this verification.
The employment opportunities of the Graduate in Environmental Sciences concern the technical and collaboration activities in local administrations, public organizations and private companies in the field of sampling, monitoring and integrated analysis of environmental matrices in their abiotic and biotic components of ecosystems and related environmental processes thanks to the skills acquired in the areas of biological, ecological, earth science and chemical learning.
The final exam consists of a discussion of written thesis on a specific environmental topic under the supervision of a professor. The graduation depends on the results the student has obtained during his university career.
