Erasmus+ for Studies includes 2 sub-actions, based on the countries involved:
- KA103: Erasmus+ for Studies with Programme Countries, i.e. the EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and United Kingdom
- KA107: Erasmus+ for Studies with Partner Countries (ICM - International Credit Mobility), i.e. all the other countries in the world.
Student mobility for studies takes place as part of an inter-institutional agreement between HEIs. (please check the list of bilateral agreements currently in place between the University of Salento and other HEIs).
If there is a valid inter-institutional agreement, Unisalento university has to receive by email (international.mobility@unisalento.it) an official nomination by the home university.
Official nominations are to be sent by email according to the following times:
- from 1st March to 30th April for first semester and whole academic year;
- from 1st September to 31st October for second semester.
After being formally accepted, Incoming students have to follow the steps below:
Step 1: Registration
All students need to register with our online platform and activate their account. Registration and account activation must be completed prior to the application.
Step 2: Application
Filling out the Application form is mandatory. In order to complete the registration and application procedure successfully and comply with each section requirements, please follow the procedure available here. General deadlines for international exchange applications at UniSalento are June 30 for the following fall semester and October 31 for the following spring semester. Dates can be subject to change
Step 3: Learning Agreement and Course Catalogue
Prior to their departure, each selected student must sign an agreement that includes also a "learning agreement" setting out the programme of studies to be followed, as agreed by the student, the sending and the receiving organisation.
The LA signed has to be enclosed by the student as one of the mandatory documents in the application form. Only the exams that are specified in the Learning Agreement will be reported on the Transcript of Records.
During their mobility period students can change the subjets they have chosen when applying, providing a new learning agreement”.

Each course webpage will provide the student with all of the details concerning the programme such as the professor in charge, timetable, language, requirements, etc..
The subjects of any activities and programs available are related but not limited to, courses and exams attendance, internship and research activities, participation in seminars, conferences and similar events. All credits earned at the receiving institution will be transferable to the sending institution, unless otherwise specified, and will contribute to students’ degree completion at the sending university according to each institution’s policy.
The Italian grading system works on a scale from 18 to 30. 18 is the lowest passing grade (sufficiency). 30L is the highest grade (30 cum laude). Only if you pass the exam of a course will you obtain the relevant credits. Exams usually give 6 or 12 credits
Step 4: Accommodation
Accommodation in the students’ halls is not available for Erasmus incoming students. Therefore, they are required to search for private accommodation by visiting the following pages: https://www.cercoalloggio.com - lecce@esn.it
Step 5: Visa for non-EU students
Non-EU students resident outside EU must apply for a visa before arriving in Italy (for information go to the admission page), Non-EU students already resident in EU who have a valid European Residence Permit should contact the Italian diplomatic authority in their own European country of residence, to inquire if they need a visa to enter Italy and obtain an Italian residence permit.
Step 6: Italian language courses
Students can attend the Italian language courses offered by our language centre, CLA – Centro linguistico di Ateneo. The registration period opens around 2 weeks before language courses start. To register, students must connect to the following link https://cla.unisalento.it/corsi_facolta and fill in the form.
Welcome Days
At the beginning of each semester a Welcome Day is held, with the aim of introducing all the Erasmus students to the University of Salento and provide them with all the information needed to ensure a great and fruitful stay at it. The dates of the Welcome days are usually communicated by email before the beginning of the semester.
Residence permit
All non-EU citizens will receive support for the residence permit application by the International Relations Office. The residence permit application must be submitted within 8 working days (from Monday to Friday), the first day that counts being the first full day after arriving in Italy.
Learning Agreement Changes
During their stay students can change their Learning Agreement by completing and signing the section called “During the Mobility”. After the changed Learning Agreement has been counter-signed by the students’ university, they should send a scanned copy of it to the International Office (international.mobility@unisalento.it)
Registration for exams
In order to take exams students need to register on-line by taking the following steps:
- Check the registration period for the exam you wish to take;
- When registration is open, log into our website using your username and password;
- Click on "Servizi Segreteria Studenti - Esse3" (left-hand column);
- Click on "Libretto" under the heading "Carriera";
- You will find a list of all the course units you have specified in your learning agreement;
- Click on the right icon (a red square): it is a compulsory evaluation questionnaire you have to fill in for each course;
- After having answered the questionnaire, you can subscribe to the exam by going back to your “Libretto” and clicking on the “open book icon” on the left of the title of the course;
- Please pay attention to the name of the professor and the date of the exam and then follow the instructions. You can also print a receipt of your booking. It is also possible to register for exams under the heading “Bacheca Appelli” where you will find a list of the available exams of the courses indicated in your Booklet.

Assessment Periods
The University of Salento has two Assessment Periods reserved for incoming students:
Autumn term: 8 January to 1 March 2024
Spring term: 5 June to 2 August 2024
The exact dates will be displayed in the student's academic profile.
Every student is entitled to three examinations per course and assessment period. Students must register for exams via the app Myunisalento exclusively in the given period. The University of Salento reserves the right to cancel exams in periods other than those indicated.
Extension of the mobility period
During their stay students can extend their mobility period, asking their home universities first for the possibility of an extension. If the request is successful, the students will inform the International Relations Office (international.mobility@unisalento.it) and will submit a new learning agreement.
Transcript of Records
The Transcript of Records (Statement of Exams Results) can be requested only when all the exams have been registered in the Student Booklet. It won’t contain the unsuccessful exams
Attendance certificate
The Attendance Certificate is the certification of the duration of the mobility. It reports the start and end dates of the mobility.
If students’ Home University requires its own Attendance Certificate to be signed, please inform the International Office (international.mobility@unisalento.it).
