The course provides the tools to address territorial and urban planning, with particular reference to the impacts of land use.
The main objective of the course is to provide students with the cultural and operational tools to have the basics of urban and territorial planning, with particular emphasis on environmental issues.
Frontal lessons and laboratory simulation of plans, projects and environmental assessments.
Oral, with discussion of the year's topics covered in the laboratory.
Analysis of territorial processes
The regulatory provision is intended as a starting point to highlight the main territorial and environmental processes that need to be known in order to plan according to the principles of environmental sustainability. This means protecting social and natural resources through the correct use of the territory and, consequently, planning with a prevention approach rather than the treatment of damage that has already occurred.
Examples in this sense are: mitigation of the urban climate through very specific greening strategies; consequent energy savings and carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere; increased permeability of the territory (especially the urban one) for the protection of the soil and water quality.
These processes will also constitute an opportunity for the practical exercises part of the course, its fundamental component, which is explained in the yearly theme assigned to each student, with application examples of the aforementioned themes to specific cases.
