Students must have an general knowledge of the historical development of the artistic civilization of the European West and of the Mediterranean East, from the end of Antiquity to the Contemporary Age. He must be able to recognize an artistic artefact.

The Master in History of Art provides students with the knowledge necessary to access further levels in the field of research (doctorate) and teaching in high schools. More general skills and abilities are also offered that allow entry into other professional fields: publishing, communication and information management through New Media. Graduates will be able to assume managerial responsibilities in public administration: at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, in Museums, Libraries, Cultural Offices, in education. In the private sector they will be able to work in the Cultural and creative industries, in private Foundations, in publishing.

The Master's degree program in Art History trains historians of the Visual Arts and experts in the conservation of Cultural Heritage. Graduates in Art History have an in-depth historical-philological training aimed at research, teaching and training on Cultural Heritage. The Graduate has a deep knowledge of the chronological development of Architecture, Sculpture, Painting and Applied arts of the European continent, from the Middle Ages to the Contemporary Age. He is able to recognize and transmit the cultural values of this Heritage. The Master in History of Art provides students with the knowledge necessary to access further levels in the field of research (doctorate) and teaching in high schools. More general skills and abilities are also offered that allow entry into other professional fields: publishing, communication and information management through New Media.
The final exam consists of a dissertation on a topic agreed by the student and supervisor.
