Course description
Admission to the Course in Sustainable Development and Climate Change requires a five-year High School Diploma or an equivalent foreign qualification.
The course of studies in Sustainable Development and Climate Change is open to students in the first year, with an expected number of 90 students in the first year.
Good basic knowledge of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics is required for admission and for successful integration into the degree course.
In case of deficiencies in access, students will receive Additional Educational Obligations (OFA) that can be filled with the support of educational initiatives on basic disciplines (biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics) such as short introductory seminar courses and also through access to research tools and online training resources on basic disciplines.
The degree programme provides for a non-selective admission test to detect any shortcomings in the following basic and characteristic disciplines: biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and earth sciences.
The test will take place in July and consists, in accordance with art. 6, paragraph 1, of D.M. 270/2004, of a multiple-choice test with 40 questions, 8 for each of the five subject areas; the test will last 60 minutes.
Criteria for the assignment of specific additional training obligations:
For the evaluation of the test, a positive score (+1) will be given for each correct answer, a negative score (- 0.25) for each incorrect answer and a score of 0 in case of no answer or no answer at all.
In case of unsatisfactory knowledge verification, Additional Educational Obligations (OFA) will be assigned to be fulfilled in the first year of the course.

The job opportunities for graduates in Sustainable Development and Climate Change are mainly linked to the third year of specialisation in the different curricula and, therefore, to professional outlets as ecologists, environmentalists, economists, sociologists experienced in the implementation of policies to comply with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda, in the identification of critical issues in the area and in the drafting of plans for environmental, business, process or social sustainability, in training on sustainable development issues and education for sustainability. Job prospects involve public administrations, territorial bodies, consortia and private companies working for the development of the territory, the management of its resources and its productive activities.
The course of studies in Sustainable Development and Climate Change is characterised by a holistic, transversal and inter- and trans-disciplinary approach aimed at promoting a new culture of sustainability and training new professional figures, required both by institutions and public administrations and by the private labour market in order to respond to the needs of the ecological transition and the Green Deal of the European Union, acquiring competitiveness at national and international level. Recent estimates in sector studies indicate that over the next five years, sustainability and digital transformation skills will make up about 30% of the employment needs of businesses and public administrations in Italy. These estimates are in agreement with the relevance of the ecological transition in the context of the Italian Next Generation Plan and the Green Deal of the European Union.
The final examination for the Degree in Sustainable Development and Climate Change consists of writing an experimental and/or theoretical paper on a topic of interest related to the knowledge acquired through the courses of the study plan, under the guidance of at least one supervisor. The paper is assessed by a Graduation Committee appointed by the President of the Teaching Council, which produces a judgement. The Graduation Committee, appointed by the President of the Academic Board and composed of at least three members (including the President and the Supervisor), on the basis of the judgments of the Reading Commissioners and of what is established in the Regulation for the 1st Level Degree in Sustainable Development and Climate Change, establishes the grade and awards the degree.
