2.5.3.2.1 - Esperti nello studio, nella gestione e nel controllo dei fenomeni sociali

Course description

The Master's Degree in Sociology and Social Research trains specialists with multidisciplinary skills, useful for analysing and managing complex processes. Training develops along four axes: theoretical skills in the sociological and philosophical fields for analysing social phenomena; empirical skills (research design, collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, including with statistical tools); specialist sociological skills depending on the track; and interdisciplinary skills for a non-naive analysis of social processes in advanced modernity.
The tracks focus on the analysis of territorial development and social innovation (Territorial Development and Social Innovation), on the analysis of deviant phenomena with sociological, psychological, legal and anthropological skills (Deviance and Crime) and on the teaching of the human sciences (Teaching of the Human Sciences). Where possible, courses include workshop activities.
Students on the 'Teaching of the Human Sciences' track coming from the Bachelor's degree in Sociology (L-40) at the University of Salento may complete the 96 CFU in the disciplinary fields M-FIL, M-STO, M-PED, M-PSI and SPS needed to access the teaching competition classes A-18 (philosophy and human sciences) and A-65 (theory and techniques of communication), and acquire the 24 CFU in the four areas (pedagogical, psychological, anthropological and didactic) required by legislation for teaching in secondary schools.
Admission to the Master's Degree in Sociology and Social Research requires basic knowledge of the sociological disciplines and of social-research methodology, as well as interdisciplinary knowledge in the economic, legal, political-science and statistical fields. Graduates in the following classes (and in the corresponding classes under Ministerial Decree 509/99) may apply:
L-5 Philosophy; L-15 Tourism Sciences; L-16 Administration and Organisation Sciences; L-18 Economics and Business Management Sciences; L-19 Education and Training Sciences; L-20 Communication Sciences; L-24 Psychological Sciences and Techniques; L-33 Economic Sciences; L-36 Political and International Relations Sciences; L-37 Social Sciences for Cooperation, Development and Peace; L-39 Social Work; L-40 Sociology; L-41 Statistics.
Alternatively, first-cycle graduates (Ministerial Decree 270/2004 or 509/99) must have acquired at least 26 CFU distributed as follows: 8 CFU in SPS/07; 6 CFU in SPS/08-12; 6 CFU in SECS-S/01, SECS-S/04, SECS-S/05; 6 CFU in SECS-P/01.
An assessment of each candidate's preparation is provided, in the ways set out in the Regulations; given the programme's international orientation, at least a basic knowledge of English is advisable.
