Course description

The Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, run by the Department of Engineering for Innovation of the University of Salento, lasts three years (180 CFU). It provides a solid basic education that allows both direct entry into the labour market and continuation with a Master's degree or a first-level master's course. Graduates will be able to analyse moderately complex problems and design and implement computing solutions and systems, to work in a team while remaining autonomous, and to keep continuously up to date with new technologies.
The basic knowledge covers discrete and continuous mathematics, probability and statistics and operations research. Computing knowledge ranges from programming to software design, including algorithm analysis, data structures, operating systems, databases and computer networks. Free-choice activities introduce emerging areas (cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, mobile applications, cloud computing), complemented by electronics, telecommunications, control engineering and English.
The ability to apply this knowledge is acquired through project work, laboratory exercises and a traineeship at research bodies or partner companies; seminars with experts support career guidance. The blended teaching combines traditional and innovative methods, with materials available on the University's e-learning platform.
Admission to the programme requires an upper secondary school qualification or an equivalent one, and adequate technical-scientific preparation to be verified through an admission test.
Bachelor's degrees taught in Italian do not include an initial English language assessment.
Students who, on the basis of the test results, do not achieve adequate preparation are assigned Additional Learning Requirements (OFA) in the subjects where gaps emerged, to be cleared during the first year.
