Course description

The Master's Degree in Management Engineering prepares a new type of engineer in line with the challenges of global competition and rapid technological change, which requires an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset. According to the National Academy of Engineering, the management engineer combines the roles of 'change agent', 'innovator' and 'high-tech entrepreneur'.
The management engineer is an engineer of change and innovation, able to integrate the management of product and process technologies and of industrial plants with that of company structures and organisational processes. They go beyond the traditional planning-organisation-control logic to embrace tools and strategies for continuous innovation and the creation of new businesses, playing a leading role in digital innovation, the market exploitation of technologies and new business models, for the creation of economic, social and environmental value.
The profile combines transversal skills (sustainable business management, entrepreneurship, strategies and business models, plants and production technologies, supply chains, data and innovation) with vertical skills in specific technological domains (digital and production technologies, energy-management systems). The programme provides a solid grounding and broad technical-applied content for entry into companies and areas where technology and innovation are drivers of value.
Admission to the Master's Degree in Management Engineering requires knowledge equivalent to that provided by the qualifying objectives of the Industrial Engineering degree class (Class 10 of Ministerial Decree 509/1999 and Class L-9 of Ministerial Decree 270/2004). Admission is open to those meeting all of the following requirements:
1) at least 36 CFU, acquired in any university course, in the disciplinary fields of the basic activities of the Industrial Engineering class;
2) at least 30 CFU, acquired in any university course, in the characterising fields of the same class (the Teaching Regulations indicate the required fields and the relevant CFU);
3) the ability to use English fluently, in written and oral form, including the relevant disciplinary vocabulary.
Admission is also open to holders of a Specialist or Master's degree in Engineering (Ministerial Decree 509/1999 or 270/2004) or of a degree in Engineering predating Ministerial Decree 509/1999.
A dedicated Committee verifies the candidate's preparation through specific admission tests, including an assessment of English (replaceable by a certification of at least level B2 of the CEF or an equivalent qualification).
Non-native speakers must provide certification of adequate knowledge of Italian; where this is missing, knowledge is verified at the interview and, if not passed, activities for learning/improving Italian are added to the study path.
