Course description

The Master's Degree Course in Experimental and Applied Biology is the natural choice for the deepening of specific skills related to qualified professional profiles in various fields of Life Sciences. The course lasts two years and does not have a programmed number of students. The Course provides a common pathway (first year) and a subsequent articulation (second year) in the following four curricula:
- Agri-food;
- Bio-health;
- Cellular and Molecular
- Human Nutrition
Biological sciences and biotechnology graduates at the University of Salento can enrol directly in the master's degree programme.
Enrolment of all other students requires the possession of specific curricular requirements and is subject to passing a test to verify the adequacy of personal preparation.
The graduates can perform functions of high responsibility as:
Biologists and related professions;
Biochemists;
Microbiologists;
Researchers and graduate technicians in the biological sciences.
The liberal profession of biologist can be carried out after passing the professional examination and registration in the Professional Register.
The final graduation examination consists of the presentation and discussion of a thesis on a topic, agreed with one of the lecturers of the LM course. The thesis must be the result of the experimental activity or the result of a thorough and up-to-date critical review of the scientific literature on a selected topic.
