Course description

The aim of the course is to form graduates with a solid mathematical background of knowledge, methods and demonstration techniques.
There are three curricula:
-"Theoretical-Modeling": it emphasizes the methodological rigor, with the acquisition of specific high-level techniques of Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.
-"Didactic": it provides a solid knowledge in the different areas of Mathematics combined with a specific preparation in the area of teaching methodologies, aimed to the teaching of mathematical disciplines.
-"Mathematics for Artificial Intelligence": it provide theoretical and computational tools in the area of Big Data, complementing theoretical education with courses on understanding, modeling and development of Neural Networks and Machine Learning.
To be admitted to the course, a student must possess a bachelor degree in Mathematics (or a corresponding degree obtained abroad) and pass an interview about his/her mathematical and language skills. Students must possess at least level B2 proficiency in English. There are compulsory checks of possession of these requirements, whose procedures are indicated in the Course Regulations.
The employment opportunities and professional activities refer to positions: - in the private sector, in modeling and service companies of all sizes and specialisations, or in organisations that use modern digital technologies; - in public institutions.
Depending on the Curricula, the final exam consists of an essay (under the supervision of a teacher) or consists of both an essay and an internship activity. The essay must contain elements of originality and prove that the student is able to understand mathematical books and papers of high level, contribute to the solution of problems and communicate appropriately the mathematical ideas.
