Course description

Classical Literature (LM 11) lasts two years and requires the acquisition of 120 CFU/ECTS. In close continuity with the Classical Curriculum of the Bachelor Degree in Language and literature (LB11), the course provides students with advanced preparation in the fields of literary, philological and historical disciplines relating to the Greek and Latin worlds and for a historical time range from the Archaic to the Late Antique period, including the Byzantine area and period. In these areas, care is taken to develop the learners’ rigorous scientific and methodological competence and to promote their critical thinking and research skills. Practical training experiences through workshops are also provided, as well as in-depth study of at least one modern European foreign language.
The entry requirement is a Bachelor's degree in the Classical Curriculum of Language and Literature (5L) or a Bachelor's degree in the field of humanities that also includes the acquisition of a specific number of CFUs in the disciplines characterising the degree course. Assessment of personal preparation is envisaged, in addition to the fulfilment of the curricular requirements.
