Course description

Modern Literature (LM 10) lasts two years and requires the acquisition of 120 CFU/ECTS. It is in close continuity with the Modern and the Contemporary curricula of the Bachelor Degree in Language and literature (LB11). It aims to ensure specialised knowledge in languages and literatures from the Middle Ages to the contemporary age, as well as advanced knowledge of the methodologies inherent to the linguistic, literary, historical and geographical sciences. The programmes of the courses are aimed at developing the students’ critical thinking and research skills, along with appropriate scientific and methodological rigour. Practical training experiences through workshops are also provided, as well as in-depth study of at least one modern European foreign language.
The entry requirement is a Bachelor's degree in Language and Literature (5L) or a Bachelor's degree in the field of humanities that also includes the acquisition of a specific number of CFUs in the disciplines characterising the degree course. Assessment of personal preparation is envisaged, in addition to the fulfilment of the curricular requirements.
Linguists and philologists - (2.5.4.1)
Proofreaders of texts - (2.5.4.2)
Archivists - (2.5.4.5.1)

The Master's degree ends with the elaboration and presentation of a written dissertation on a topic concerning one of the subjects followed by the student, under the guidance of a supervisor. Students are expected to demonstrate the research and critical thinking skills acquired during the degree course.
