Course description

The Course offers a series of teaching activities with a special focus on environmental sustainability. It provides students with the knowledge and expertise necessary for working in companies of the tourism and cultural sector, as well as in public sector. Teaching activities cover a wide range of topics such as sustainable development and management of territories, sustainability tools, accounting and reporting for sustainable tourism, as well as economic history, and foreign languages. In addition to traditional lectures, courses make use of seminars, case study presentations and discussions, and project works. When possible, students are encouraged to adopt an international perspective and some teaching activities are in English.
Students must have a Bachelor’s degree in the fields of economics, social sciences, communication sciences, political sciences, cultural heritage. Otherwise, they might be required to gain 30 extra credits in the aforementioned fields. All students must pass an oral test aimed to assess students’ basic knowledge on business administration, tourism economics, public administration.
Upon completion of the course, students have a highly qualified professional profile that allows them to work in public and private organizations in the tourism industry and cultural heritage. For example, they could work as specialists, experts, managers, directors, or consultants for tourism and/or cultural institutions, as well as profit and nonprofit organizations.
The final examination consists of a written dissertation/thesis regarding a topic within one of the subjects covered during the Course. The thesis is discussed in public, with an examination committee that evaluates the thesis and the overall student career and then gives a final mark.
