Course description
The three-year Degree Course, which qualifies for the practice of the profession, provides for programmed access and is regulated by an admission notice. In compliance with current legislation and consistent with what is established in terms of professional activity and responsibility by the European Union directives, the course aims to train healthcare professionals who independently carry out activities aimed at prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, palliation and the protection of individual and collective health.
The nurse participates in the recognition of the health needs of the individual and the community, formulates the related objectives, plans, manages and evaluates the nursing care intervention; ensures the correct application of diagnostic-therapeutic prescriptions; acts both individually and in collaboration with other health and social workers.
The achievement of professional skills is achieved through theoretical-practical training that includes the acquisition of behavioral skills, achieved in the specific work context, so as to guarantee, at the end of the training course, full mastery of all the necessary skills and their immediate usability in the work environment.
The teaching activities, with mandatory attendance, are divided into 180 university training credits (CFU), according to a six-month organization that includes theoretical training teaching activities, tutorials (Problem Based Learning, case method), professionalizing and individual study. The theoretical activities for both basic and professionalizing disciplines are integrated with practical activities: seminars, laboratories and internships. The internship, to be carried out in accredited healthcare facilities, accounts for a total of 60 CFU distributed over the three years of the course.
In order to deepen the theoretical-practical preparation, the Degree Course offers students the opportunity to participate in incoming and outgoing European projects (Erasmus Programs).
The graduate in Nursing can access post-basic university training (first level master's and advanced courses) and the Master's Degree Course in Nursing and Obstetric Sciences, Class LM/SNT1.
The Degree Course is activated at the teaching site of the Vito Fazzi Hospital in Lecce and the replica at the Pia Fondazione Panico Hospital in Tricase (Le).
Admission to the Degree Course is limited by the national access program (Law 2 August 1999, n. 264) and occurs by passing a written multiple-choice test.
In each academic year, the MUR issues a specific Decree that establishes the admission procedures, including: the number of places, the contents of the announcement issued by the University.
The subjects covered by the exam are: general culture and logical reasoning, physics and mathematics, chemistry, biology.
The educational organization of the Course requires that admitted students have an adequate knowledge of the Italian language and initial preparation, obtained in previous studies, with regard to mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.
students admitted to the degree course with a grade lower than a pre-established minimum threshold, may be assigned specific additional training obligations; the methods of recovering any training deficits, to be filled in any case within the first year of the course, are governed by the Degree Course Teaching Regulations.
