Course description

- qualification obtained abroad declared equivalent to an Italian high school diploma.
A basic knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology is required. In addition, a good general culture is required and the common skills of logic and expressive ability are required.
Such skills and knowledge will be verified through a mandatory initial preparation assessment test; in the event of a negative result, additional training obligations (OFA) will be assigned.
The methods of verifying the knowledge required for access as well as the methods of recovering the OFA will be defined in the teaching regulations of the degree course.

The graduate in Viticulture and Oenology will be able to effectively carry out technical tasks in the management of primary production activities, planning in the viticultural and oenological field, application of modern technologies aimed at the quality and control of wine production, management and administration of wine companies, carrying out microbiological, oenochemical and organoleptic analyses of wines, consultancy as a freelancer (Oenologist, Junior Agronomist).The general objective of the graduate's functions is to improve agri-food production, especially wine, not only in qualitative terms but above all in qualitative and economic terms, ensuring, through the introduction of technical or process innovations, the environmental sustainability of production activities and transformation.
The professional activity of the graduate in Viticulture and Oenology can be carried out both in companies that operate in the field of primary production and in companies for the transformation, conservation and distribution and marketing of wine products or in companies that supply the wine supply chain. This is highlighted by the presence of two curricula that are divided in relation to a training orientation more directed towards primary production or transformation processes.
Skills
Graduates in Viticulture and Oenology, having acquired basic and professional skills of a biological, chemical and technological nature, are able to:- operate the control of the quantity and quality of production with a view to eco-compatible agriculture;
- operate with adequate skills in the sectors of communication in the agri-food sector;
- apply techniques for combating adversities in agriculture while respecting the environment and the health of operators and citizens;
- carry out analysis and investigation activities for the protection and enhancement of wine production;
- manage technological processes of wine production;
- manage agricultural activities aimed at enhancing environmental specificities and promoting the quality and typicality of food products with particular attention to wine production;
- manage the introduction of innovations in agriculture in compliance with eco-friendly development of businesses.
Place
The graduate in Viticulture and Oenology will find employment in all activities connected with the practice of agriculture both in private companies and in public bodies and also in service and consultancy companies, with particular reference to agricultural companies that intend to introduce organic production techniques or that invest in typical quality agricultural and wine production. The relevant employment opportunities are wine companies, production or related companies, analysis laboratories, consortia and trade associations and public sector organizations.Pursuant to Law 129/91 and subsequent amendments, the Degree Course trains the figure of the Oenologist. Graduates can take the state exam to register in the professional register of Agronomists and Forestry Doctors in section B (Junior Agronomist), agronomic and forestry sector, and in the professional register of Agricultural Technicians and Graduate Agricultural Technicians.
