Course description

The degree course in Optics and Optometry, lasts only three years. The organisation is based on mathematical and physical disciplines, but it privileges in equal measure both the more typically applicative aspects and the fundamental formal ones. The degree course in Optics Optometry provides in the first part a series of courses aimed at providing not only a solid basic training in the mathematical-computer disciplines, in chemistry, in classical and modern physics, but also adequate training in subjects strictly related to optics and optometry, such as anatomy, histology and human and ocular physio-pathology, all necessary to allow the understanding of subsequent highly professionalizing courses such as Physical Techniques for Optometry and Contactology.
High school diploma;
qualification obtained abroad declared equivalent to an Italian upper secondary education diploma;
ability of the Italian language to understand and produce texts and to describe problems;
ability to use elementary logical structures;
mathematical knowledge at secondary school level
Activities in the professional and commercial sector;
optometry studies also linked to small businesses;
industries, commercial activities of contact lenses and eyewear;
public and private companies for optometric measurements and for environmental checks in relation to eyes and vision;
optometric consultancy in public and private bodies.
The final exam consists in the preparation of a report on a topic chosen by the student and connected with the study plan, or in the report on an experiment specifically carried out, in the context of the experimental knowledge already acquired. The final exam does not necessarily have original characteristics, it must rather emerge from the cultural maturity and the ability of the student.
