Course description

The test consists in a multiple choice test of 40 questions (10 for each of the subjects) with 4 answers, with one single correct answer, which focuses on basic scientific knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Earth Sciences based on the programs of high secondary school. The test must be carried out within the maximum time of 60 minutes. Criteria for the assignment of specific additional training obligations: A positive score (+1) will be assigned for each correct answer, a negative score (- 0.25) for each incorrect answer and a 0 score in case of no or no answer.

Admission to the course requires a high school diploma or other equivalent and approved qualification obtained abroad. Students must possess adequate knowledge of basic Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Earth Sciences. There are compulsory checks of possession of these requirements. The procedures for checking academic requirements are indicated in the Course Regulations, published on the university website, which establishes the additional learning requirements (OFAs) to be achieved in the first year of the course if the initial requirements are not met.

The employment opportunities of the Graduate in Environmental Sciences and Technologies concern the technical and collaboration activities in local administrations, public organizations and private companies in the field of sampling, monitoring and integrated analysis of environmental matrices in their abiotic and biotic components of ecosystems and related environmental processes thanks to the skills acquired in the areas of biological, ecological, earth science and chemical learning.

The Bachelor Course aims to train graduates who should have a systemic culture of the environment and a good practice of the scientific method for the analysis of components and factors of processes, systems and problems concerning the environment, both natural and modified by humans, which allow them to continue their studies by moving towards master's degree courses on environmental issues. The contribution of the mathematical, physical, chemical and earth sciences disciplines in their specificity, with the contribution of the naturalistic disciplines, represent the basis on which the characterizing training activities build the specificity of the Bachelor Course, touching the different aspects of Environmental Sciences. The training activities, organized in a single path, are aimed at providing a systemic vision of components (biotic and abiotic), environmental factors and processes, as well as the frailties relating to environmental sensitivities subject to various pressures of an anthropic nature. Knowledge of these relationships is essential for assessing the state of environmental systems. To achieve this objective, basic, characterizing, related and integrative training activities are provided for, as well as additional activities that complete the training with regard to computer and linguistic skills (in English). This training is adequate for the continuation of university studies in a master's degree course in the field of environmental sciences. The provision of an internship in companies, public administration structures and laboratories and / or internships at universities allows, in particular to those who want to enter the world of work, to gain experience in an applicative context. In particular: - the basic training courses, which refers to mathematical, physical, chemical, earth sciences and biological disciplines, represents a solid basis for the characterizing activities foreseen in the themes of botany, analytical chemistry, stratigraphic geology, geophysics, physical meteorology and oceanography, physiology and environmental microbiology. A specific space is dedicated to ecological issues both in terms of foundations, both with regard to the role of biodiversity, and in the application to planning. - the related and integrative disciplines contribute to consolidate the baggage of the graduate in economic and legal issues, applied physics, geobotany, plant physiology and chemical-analytical applications. Six learning areas can be identified: - Biological Area; - Ecological Area; - Earth Sciences Area; - Chemical Area; - Physics-Mathematics Area; - Economic and Legal Area and other competences.

The final exam consists of a written paper in which students present thesis on a specific environmental topic under the supervision of a professor. The graduation depends on the results the student has obtained during his university career.
