Course description

The course Biological Sciences is centred on the study of living organisms from different aspects (including structure, organisation, function, growth, reproduction, evolution, distribution) and aimed at understanding the origins and rules of Life, through the analysis of the mechanisms and properties of living organisms. Biology studies the fundamental elements of Nature. The course has a strong multidisciplinary characterisation integrating various biological and non-biological disciplines.
Admission to the degree course in Biological Sciences is subject to a programmed number of places with a maximum of 200. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or an equivalent foreign qualification pursuant to Ministerial Decree no. 270 of 22 October 2004.
Admission to the Course is subject to passing a selective admission test.
The three-year Biological Sciences graduate will be able to work either under the supervision of a professional or independently but without ever holding a coordinating role as:
1) Environmental control technicians;
2) Biochemical laboratory technicians;
3) Food product technicians.
The final test for the Degree consists of a written thesis on a biological topic, prepared by the student under the guidance of a supervisor. The graduation grade is expressed in 100/10ths, with honours if applicable, and takes into account the outcome of the final examination, the student's overall progress, and the scientific and/or professional preparation and maturity achieved.
