The Degree Course in Literature has its own Learning Agreement manager and takes care of internationalization. The degree course in Classics lasts two years, provides a single curriculum and involves the acquisition of 120 credits. In close continuity with the classical curriculum of the Degree Course in Letters (L-10), to whose skills it is linked, the course provides the student with an advanced preparation in the fields of literary, philological and historical disciplines related to the Greek and Latin world and for a historical arch from the archaic to the late ancient age, including the area and the Byzantine period. In these areas, the development of rigorous scientific and methodological competence is taken care of, and the capacity for independent criticism and personal research is promoted. For this purpose, the Course reduces the mandatory and more general courses to the indispensable (four), offers more space to the student's choice in the sector of specialized, characterizing (seven) and related or supplementary (twelve, including teaching and methodological disciplines), provides more practical opportunities through specialist workshops (six) and keeps the need firm improvement at least in a modern European foreign language (compulsory eligibility).
To be admitted to the Master of Science in Classical Letters, an initial test must be taken. It consists of an oral interview on the main topics (Greek and Latin grammar and literature; history of the ancient world from Pharaonic Egypt to the Byzantine Middle Ages; Italian grammar, figures and moments of the literary history of Italy), on the methodologies and knowledge that student must have acquired along the path of the three-year degree in Literature.
The entry qualification is a three-year degree in Literature (5L) or a three-year degree obtained in the humanities area. In addition to the possession of the qualification, the acquisition of the following CFU is required: - 12 credits in the SSD L-FIL-LET / 02; - 12 credits in the SSD L-FIL-LET / 04 - 8 credits in the SSD L-ANT / 02; - 8 credits in the SSD L-ANT / 03; - 6 credits in SSD L-LIN / 03; L-LIN / 04; L-LIN / 05; L-LIN / 07; L-LIN / 10; L-LIN / 12; L-LIN / 13; L-LIN / 14 or level B1 of the chosen foreign language ;; - 22 CFU in the L-FIL-LET / 05 SSDs; L-LIN / 06; L-LIN / 07; L-LIN / 08; L-ANT / 04; L-ANT / 07; L-ANT / 05; M-STO / 09; L-OR / 02, L-FIL-LET / 10, L-LIN / 12. It is also necessary to be able to use fluently, in written and oral form, at least one European Union language other than Italian. They can also access the Master's Degree in Classical Letters graduates with a four-year Degree in Letters - classical address; Graduates with a four-year degree in humanities can also access. To be admitted to the course of study it is necessary to pass a selective oral test which focuses on the scientific-disciplinary sectors at the basis of the three-year course, including the adequate knowledge of a European Union language other than Italian. The specific procedures for the verification of the personal preparation are referred to the educational regulations of the course of study.

The course ends with a final test called Degree Thesis. It offers the student the opportunity to demonstrate the research and critical analysis, autonomous and original processing skills acquired during his / her master's course. The final test consists of a written discussion on a topic related to one of the courses followed by the master's student, a discussion to be carried out under the guidance of a supervisor as well as in a critical and original way, in good Italian form and with the help of texts in foreign languages. This thesis is then discussed in the presence of the supervisor, in front of a co-supervisor and the members of the appropriate Commission for the achievement of the title of Doctor of Science.
