The Master's Degree in Communication Engineering and Electronic Technologies, delivered in English, provides graduates with the opportunity to enter the engineering profession in the fields of design, production, operation and maintenance of modern telecommunication, navigation, and remote sensing systems as well as applications and services based on these systems. The following principles and enabling technologies are covered: - the physical level of modern telecommunication systems (modulation formats, equalization techniques, multiple access, etc.); statistical processing of signals; design and allocation of resources in modern telecommunications networks; - CAD of antennas and electromagnetic circuits (EM); EM compatibility; radio-propagation models and optimization of radio coverage; - aspects of circuit electronics and devices of interest for this sector. The training includes an overview of modern digital communication systems aimed at showing how principles and techniques are used in the realization of each system. Emphasis is placed on cellular networks and navigation systems.
The quota reserved to non-EU students residing outside Italy is 20 seats.
Admission to the Communication Engineering and Electronic Technologies degree programme requires a Bachelor of Science in Information Engineering or other equivalent and approved qualification obtained abroad. Also requires is at least level B2 proficiency in English. Prospective students must demonstrate possession of at least 40 credits in the scientific-disciplinary fields indicated for basic training activities and possession of at least 60 credits in the scientific-disciplinary fields indicated for the training activities characterizing the disciplinary areas of the Bachelor's Degrees pertaining to the Class of Information Engineering. There are compulsory checks of possession of these requirements.
Graduates will be able to carry out professional activities in all ICT companies, from those involved in the design, testing, production and operation of telecommunication equipment, systems and infrastructure, to those oriented to ICT-based services and applications, including: - the acquisition and transport of information and its use in telematic applications; - hardware, software, and services for wireless communications and IoT (Internet of Things); - sensors communicating with remote devices as in the field of wearable and implantable electronics; - audio and video processing; - telecommunication services and remote sensing terrestrial or space-based; - aerial, land, and naval traffic control.
The degree is awarded after passing the final exam, which requires the student to present his/her thesis to the members of the Degree Committee, with the aim of verifying the maturity acquired and the graduate's ability to present the arguments. The final exam must be an important individual training opportunity to complete the curriculum. Therefore, a discussion of the proposed thesis is compulsory.
