Department of Cultural Heritage
- Sciences for Cultural Heritage
The Doctorate, through the multidisciplinary spectrum of archaeology, art history, cultural anthropology, and technologies applied to cultural heritage, aims to train scientific and professional profiles related to the study and conservation of tangible and intangible heritage.
Department of Engineering for innovation
- Material, Structure and Nanotechnology Engineering
The PhD program has a strongly interdisciplinary character and addresses topics such as the study of innovative and nanotechnological materials for applications in the industrial, biomedical, electronic and construction sectors.
- Engineering of complex systems
The interaction of multidisciplinary technical-scientific cultures allows the course's PhD students to develop skills for the development, design and management of innovative products/systems, within the modern paradigms of Industry 4.0.
Department of Mathematics and Physics
- Physics and Nanosciences
The PhD program aims to empower doctoral students to conduct independent research in both academic and industrial settings across all fields of physics, while providing a broad interdisciplinary education in Nanosciences.
- Mathematics and IT
The PhD aims to train mathematicians and computer scientists who can independently develop research in pure and applied mathematics and computer science, with in-depth and integrated knowledge of the methods and tools of a wide range of mathematical and computer science disciplines.
- Nano- and Bio-Technologies
The PhD Programme aims to train highly qualified researchers capable of developing innovative knowledge and technologies at the interface of the physical, chemical, biological, medical, and engineering sciences, addressing the challenges of health, sustainability, and innovation through the One Health approach.
Department of Law Studies
- Law and Sustainability
The PhD aims to train lawyers and legal practitioners to critically and historically interpret sustainability issues and manage the complexity of the transition to a sustainable world.
Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Technologies
- Biological and environmental sciences and technologies
The PhD program integrates the cultural areas of biology, medicine, chemistry, physics, geophysics, and agriculture, along with their related approaches, around unifying themes such as the synergy between biology and biotechnology, biodiversity, ecology, and the environment.
Department of History, Society and Human Studies
- Human and Social Sciences
The PhD, in accordance with the founding principle of interdisciplinarity, groups three curricula that integrate multiple disciplinary areas:
1) Historical and Geographical Sciences; 2) Social and Political Sciences; 3) Psychological and Pedagogical Sciences.
Department of Humanities
- Philosophy: Forms and History of Philosophical Knowledge
International doctorate in agreement with the Sorbonne Université of Paris and the University of Cologne, with joint award. It aims to train scholars capable of carrying out study, research and teaching in a philosophical field in an international context.
- Languages, Literatures and Cultures and their applications
The PhD aims to build interdisciplinary paths through different linguistic systems in time and space, studying their communicative dimensions, functioning, hybridization and building original theoretical paths and professional skills of application cutting.
