Course description
The Course of Study offers training for professionals destined to be specialists in the design, management and evaluation of motor and sports activity programs adapted motor and sports activities (Kinesiologist of preventive and adapted motor activities): to the prevention of diseases and the improvement of the quality of life; to the post-rehabilitation motor recovery aimed at maintaining physical efficiency; to interventions to promote active lifestyles aimed at achieving and maintaining psycho-physical well-being for subjects of different ages with gender specificities and in different physical conditions; to the prevention and functional recovery of postural defects.
These skills will be achieved through the study of motor and sports, biomedical, psycho-pedagogical disciplines and through their interconnections. In support of traditional teaching, the course includes laboratories in which students will be actively involved, and a curricular training internship of 20 CFU at external training agencies and structures connected to the University that will have to consolidate skills with direct experiences in the professional field.
The aim of the Course is to train professionals capable of combining basic knowledge relating to motor and sports activities adapted to the needs of the person with specific skills relating to the different areas of special populations. These specialists in adapted motor and sports activities must be able to design, conduct and evaluate adapted physical exercise programs for people with temporary and permanent disabilities, to evaluate their motor and intellectual functions with technical tools, to prevent complications related to a sedentary lifestyle, to promote their psychophysical well-being and to improve their quality of life. They must also promote inclusion through physical activities and sport according to the most recent scientific evidence, as an opportunity for health, within rehabilitation programs dedicated to restoring and maintaining the autonomy compressed in the presence of disabling conditions.
The training program will therefore focus on two fundamental areas of study:
1. Motor-sport area: this area guarantees the learning of methodologies aimed at organizing and implementing adapted physical activity programs; knowledge of the rules and principles of organizing sports dedicated to disability; learning of pedagogical and didactic techniques aimed at supporting and including people with disabilities.
2. Biomedical area: this area guarantees the learning of the biochemical and physiopathological mechanisms underlying the main disabling pathologies; knowledge of rehabilitation and prevention techniques through physical exercise aimed at special populations; knowledge of health services, settings and aids intended for all activities of people with disabilities, including sport; knowledge of the notions of adapting physical exercise to disabled people, divided by age group, chronicity of the pathologies, transitory or permanent nature of the disability, macro-area of disability.
Employment and professional opportunities expected for graduates
Graduates find employment in public structures (nursery schools and primary schools within specific institute or inter-institutional and multi-component projects, secondary schools of first and second level, after the disciplinary enabling courses provided for by current legislation and/or through the Active Training Internship - TFA) and in private structures (gyms, fitness centers, functional recovery centers through adapted motor activities, including those dedicated to disabilities, sports associations and clubs) both in Italy and abroad.
The degree course, therefore, prepares graduates to carry out preventive and adapted motor activity interventions, aimed at different ages (children, adolescents, adults, the elderly) and special populations (disabled people, people affected by non-communicable diseases, women in pregnancy, people with psychosocial problems; prisoners, drug addicts) in public and private facilities.
Graduates who have acquired university training credits (CFU) in the scientific-disciplinary sectors M-EDF and M-PED (PEDF/24), as required by current legislation, will be able to participate in the competitive procedures for teaching physical education in middle schools and high schools, according to current legislation.
The duration of the LM-67 degree course is two years. The master's degree is obtained with the acquisition of 120 university training credits (CFU); those who obtain the master's degree are awarded the academic qualification of Master's Degree in Preventive and Adapted Motor Activities Sciences and Techniques.
The Master's Degree in Preventive and Adapted Motor Activities Sciences and Techniques is located in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Technologies (DiSTeBA).
To be admitted to the course, it is necessary to have obtained, in the three-year degree of class L-22, at least 60 CFU in the qualifying sectors of motor and sports activities, physiology, biochemistry and anatomy. Any curricular deficiencies must be filled before enrolling in the master's degree.
The course has limited access: access is expected to be equal to 65 students.
