Course description
The Master's Degree Course in Social policies and services planning and management prepares professionals able to operate with a high degree of autonomy and to carry out management, governance and coordination functions and evaluations of social services programmes and social policies in various fields: social and health integration, personal and family services, migration and intercultural relations, social exclusion and marginality, vulnerable persons and welfare policies. All these areas are framed in the context of crises and humanitarian emergencies, to which a specific curriculum is dedicated.
For all students, access is conditional on meeting the following requirements:
- L-39 Degree in Social Work, awarded pursuant to DM 270/2004 or corresponding degree class awarded pursuant to DM 509/99, or equivalent qualification:
- University Diploma in Social Work
- Diploma from the Scuola Diretta a Fini Speciali per Assistenti Sociali.
Irrespective of the curricular requirements, all students are required to undergo a personal preparation test in the manner set out in the Academic Regulations.

The specialist social worker can work in various sectors and institutions, both public and private, in management, coordination, planning and evaluation roles, in

2. Consultants,
3. Multidisciplinary Units for the Developing Age (UMEE) and Unit
Multidisciplinary Unit for the Disabled in Adulthood (UMEA),
4. Departments of Mental Health (DSM),
5. Drug addiction service,
6. District and Geriatric Evaluation Units (UVD and UVG),
7. Local Health Authorities, Hospital Authorities;
8. Resocialisation institutions;
9. C.T.U. at the Juvenile Court;
10. Ministry of Justice (Office of Juvenile Social Services -USSM- and Adult Social Service -UEPE-)
11. Shelter and rehabilitation communities
12. Prison Administration
13. Local authorities;
14. Ministry of the Interior/Prefecture, etc.
15. Region, Province, Municipality and other local authorities
16. Residential and semi-residential facilities for the elderly, adults,
incapacitated and minors,
17. Third Sector (or Social Private) organisations, cooperatives, foundations, associations, social enterprises, social centres
18. Self-employed (including as a researcher in his own right, associated or contracted with public and private social research and social service organisations)
19. Job Centres (employment of disadvantaged people).

The final examination for the master's degree consists of a public examination concerning the discussion of an original paper, carried out under the guidance of a lecturer/speaker. The aim of the final examination is to demonstrate the acquisition of knowledge and skills in the field of social policies and related theoretical-methodological areas.
