Course description

Language and literature (LB11) has a three-year duration, consists of 180 CFU/ECTS and is one of the oldest courses at Università del Salento.
Students can choose one of the three curricula below:
1) Classical Curriculum: it offers a solid basic knowledge of the origins of European civilisation, with specific reference to the worlds of Greek and Latin.
2) Modern Curriculum: it offers a solid basic knowledge in the field of literary, linguistic, historical and geographical studies, with particular reference to European civilisation in its Latin roots;
3) Contemporary Curriculum: it offers a solid education in the historical-geographical, linguistic and literary fields, marked by a strengthened knowledge of modern languages.
The admission requirement is a Secondary School Diploma or another qualification obtained abroad and recognised as suitable. Assessment of personal knowledge is required in order to verify the adequacy of personal preparation, consisting of basic knowledge of Italian, History, Latin and/or Greek (for the curricula that include these subjects) knowledge of English or French at least at level A2.

The Bachelor's Degree concludes with the production of a final written dissertation on a topic related to one of the Course's subjects, under the guidance of a supervisor. The dissertation must be defended before a special committee that will evaluate the written paper, the progress of the defence and the student's entire course of study.
