Course description
The main objective of the Degree Course in Mathematics is to train graduates with a broad spectrum of knowledge and skills in basic mathematics and its applications. It provides an education open to further in-depth study also in scientific areas for which mathematics is a conceptual and operational tool.
The Degree Course, in the first two years, provides a solid preparation in traditional mathematical subjects (algebra, analysis, geometry) and a basic preparation in computer science and physics. In the third year, the basic preparation is completed and the individual interests of students are stimulated with the choice of courses in choice groups in the theoretical and applied fields and with courses freely chosen by the student.

To access the Degree Course in Mathematics, in addition to the ability to reason rigorously, good familiarity with the mathematical language of arithmetic, geometry, algebra, and an interest in learning new concepts and analyzing complex problems are required.
Profile
The Degree Course in Mathematics aims to train professionals capable of offering mathematical and computational modeling support to activities in industry, finance, services and public administration.Functions
The graduate in Mathematics will be able to collaborate, with technical-operational tasks, in activities that involve the use and creation of mathematical models.Skills
The graduate in Mathematics will have excellent mathematical skills and good computational skills, sufficient for the technical-operational tasks of the various work contexts.Skip
The Degree Course in Mathematics prepares for the profession of specialist in mathematical sciences:- mathematician.
The final exam for the achievement of the Degree in Mathematics consists of the drafting of a short written essay, written by the student under the guidance of a teacher, on a topic closely related to those already covered in the courses of the study plan or on a specific training activity submitted for prior approval by the Mathematics Teaching Council.
This essay, which does not necessarily have to possess original characteristics, must however demonstrate the graduate's ability to independently and personally elaborate the assigned topic.
The methods of evaluating the final exam are described in the Degree Thesis Regulations of the course (see attached pdf file).
