Course description

The main purpose of the course is to form graduates with a wide spectrum of knowledge and skills in Mathematics and its applications. This formation also allows students to increase their skills in other scientific areas which use Mathematics. The first two years provide a solid preparation in traditional areas like Algebra, Analysis and Geometry, and a basic preparation in Computer Sciences and Physics. The third year completes this preparation and stimulate the individual interests of the students through the choice of courses.
To be admitted to the course, a high school diploma or other equivalent and recognized foreign qualification is required. Students must possess an adequate knowledge of basic mathematics. There are compulsory checks of possession of these requirements.
A graduate student in Mathematics will be able to collaborate, using technical and operational skills, in activities that require the use and project of mathematical models.
When a student achieves at least 150 credits, he/she has to ask the president for a professor who will assist him/her in the preparation of the degree thesis, which is a written paper on a topic related to one or more courses he/she attended. In evaluating the final exam, the Committee will take into account both the career of the student and the work done during the preparation of the thesis.
