Course description

The Bachelor's Degree in Information Engineering: Electronics, Computer Science and Telecommunications provides a study path that aims to provide adequate knowledge both in basic subjects, such as mathematics and physics, and in the field of Electronics, Computer Engineering and Telecommunications. Furthermore, the course of study provides basic knowledge in the field of Automation.

The course of study provides:

- basic theoretical knowledge and operational skills for: industries involved in the design, production and operation of systems in the field of Information and Communication Technology, IT industries operating in the fields of hardware and software production, companies operating in the area of information systems and computer networks, IT service companies for public administration;

- basic theoretical knowledge and operational skills for: electronic, electromechanical, space, chemical and aeronautical companies, in which functions of dimensioning and implementation of complex architectures, processes and systems for automation are developed that integrate IT components, measurement, transmission and implementation equipment;

- basic theoretical knowledge and operational skills for: companies involved in the design, production and operation of equipment, systems and infrastructures concerning the acquisition and transport of information and their use in telematics applications; public and private companies providing terrestrial or space-based telecommunications and remote sensing services; regulatory bodies and air, land and naval traffic control bodies;

- basic theoretical knowledge and operational skills for: companies designing, manufacturing and operating electronic equipment and systems for the acquisition and processing of signals and their use in various application contexts, using Engineering methodologies and techniques.
Admission to the CdS requires a high school diploma or equivalent qualification, adequate technical-scientific preparation to be verified with an admission test and initial knowledge of the English language.
Students who, based on the test results, do not achieve adequate preparation will be assigned Additional Training Obligations (OFA) relating to the subjects in which the student has reported training gaps that must be filled in the first year.

Profile

Information Engineer

Functions

The main functions of the professional figure are linked to the use of advanced Information Technology techniques and tools, both for the design and management of information systems, computers and computer networks, IT services for public administration, and for the design, production and operation of telecommunication equipment, services and infrastructures and also for the design and manufacture of electronic systems and components such as advanced discrete devices and monolithic integrated circuits on silicon with application in various industrial sectors. The job market in the Information Engineering sector is very receptive today: the industry (without particular reference to a specific field) actively seeks graduates with skills in the field of Telecommunications and Information Technology in general, in order to remain competitive, especially in technologically mature sectors.

Skills

Graduates must:

*) understand and know the fundamental aspects of Information Engineering;
*) acquire knowledge and understanding of the mathematical and physical principles underlying engineering;
*) understand and know the latest developments in the sector itself, with particular reference
**) to the design of hardware and software, including the analysis of issues related to safety and maintenance management;
**) to management and design skills for complex architectures, systems and plants that integrate IT components;
**) to the design of equipment, services and infrastructures for the acquisition and transport of information;
**) the design of electronic systems for the acquisition and processing of signals.
