Course description
Student training takes place along four fundamental axes:
- the acquisition of theoretical skills in the sociological and philosophical fields, such as to guarantee tools and categories useful for the analysis of social phenomena;
- the development of empirical skills, connected in particular with the ability to develop research designs, to collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, to analyze the latter also by using statistical skills;
- sociological skills, connected in particular with the analysis of territorial development and social innovation processes (for students enrolled in the Territorial Development and Social Innovation curriculum);
- sociological, psychological, legal and anthropological skills for the analysis and understanding of deviant phenomena (for students enrolled in the Deviance and Crime curriculum);
- skills essential for the practice of science teaching human (for students enrolled in the curriculum in Teaching of Human Sciences);
-interdisciplinary skills as an indispensable complement for a non-naive analysis of social processes in advanced modernity.
The course of study promotes, for those teachings that allow it, the transmission of theoretical and operational skills, through the organization, within the courses, of laboratory activities.
For students who choose the curriculum in Teaching of Human Sciences and who have obtained the three-year degree in Sociology (L-40) at the University of Salento, opting for the training profile in 'Teaching of Human Sciences', it will be possible to complete the achievement of the 96 credits in the scientific disciplinary sectors M-FIL, M-STO, M-PED, M-PSI and SPS necessary for access to two competition classes for teaching in high schools: class A-18 (philosophy and human sciences) and class A-65 (Theory and technique of communication).
at the same time, this curriculum, in connection with the three-year degree in Sociology (L-40), complies with the provisions of Ministerial Decree 616 of 10 August 2017, guaranteeing the acquisition of the 24 CFU in the four areas (pedagogical, psychological, anthropological and didactic) provided for by the PF24 path required for participation in the 'FIT National Competition', a three-year training and internship entry path, provided for by Law 107/2015, c. 181, letter b and by Legislative Decree 59/2017, art. 5, c.1, letters a and b which allows access to teaching roles in secondary schools.

• 6 CFU in the SSD SECS-S/01, SECS-S/04, SECS-S/05
• 6 CFU in the SSD SECS-P/01
Regardless of the curricular requirements, all students are required to undergo a personal preparation assessment, with methods that will be appropriately defined in the course of study regulations. Since the Degree Course has a strong international vocation which is also reflected in the teaching programs, it is appropriate that students demonstrate at least a basic knowledge of the English language.

Skills
Professional opportunities envisaged by the degree course are in social research activities, as well as in the management of public and private administrations. The master's degree graduate also has a particular relevance in the planning of public and social policies. In particular, graduates in Sociology and Social Research have skills in the management of social data, in their analysis and in the design of public policies oriented by empirical research. In particular, the research and methodological skills acquired may be oriented, based on the student's curricular choice, either in the direction of the analysis and promotion of the dynamics of territorial development, or in the analysis of deviant and criminal behavior. For students who have already followed the path in Teaching of Human Sciences in the three-year degree in Sociology (L-40), the degree course allows you to complete the acquisition of credits necessary for access to the competition classes for teaching in high schools.Sbocco

The evaluation will take into account, in addition to the quality of the essay and the final exam, also the individual curriculum and the grades obtained by the student in the exams. Honors, any training period abroad, and the acquisition of the degree in progress will also be evaluated.
