Course description

The Bachelor's Degree in 'Chemistry for Sustainability' (Class L-27) lasts three years and is organised as a single path that integrates the chemical sciences with mathematical, computing and physical disciplines. It stands out from other programmes in the same class for a substantial number of credits devoted to sustainability topics (disciplinary field CHIM/*) and for specific contributions from molecular biology.
The programme trains a professional able to meet the needs of the Ecological Transition and the European Union's Green Deal, competitive at national and international level and sought after by both public institutions and the private market. A placement is provided at research centres, institutions, companies, laboratories and consultancy firms; the final thesis consists of developing a project proposal on a scientifically significant topic. For internationalisation, Erasmus programmes and contacts with foreign universities are activated, also with a view to double degrees.
Graduates can continue with the Master's degrees of class LM-54 (or other classes admitting L-27 graduates). The main career opportunities are: Junior Chemist at public and private research bodies; quality-control technician; technician in analysis, control and quality-certification laboratories; consultant or freelance professional; chemist in industry.
The programme does not have capped admission; an intake of 60 students is planned for the first year.
Admission to the programme requires at least one of the following qualifications:
- an upper secondary school diploma;
- a qualification obtained abroad declared equivalent to an Italian upper secondary school diploma.

In addition, for access and successful participation in the programme, a good basic knowledge of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry is required, in line with upper secondary school syllabi.

The procedures for assessing initial preparation, the criteria for assigning specific Additional Learning Requirements (OFA) and the ways of clearing them are set out in the programme's Teaching Regulations.
