Fundamentals of Ecology; Fundamentals of Ecological Informatics

Life-cycle of data applied to ecology and ecosystem research; First-hand data collection (with fieldwork) and elaboration for fractal analysis, via geometric and arithmetic analysis; Creation of datasets and dataframes, with subsequent training on basic ecological tests (t-test, OLS estimation, bootstrap) in R. Setup of datasets for GIS application

Providing hands-on experience on dataset organization and analysis in ecology, out of direct measurements and observations. Ideally, the course would allow students to apply the skills acquired directly into their thesis project
