Teaching description
Fundamentals of Ecology; Fundamentals of Ecological Informatics
Life-cycle of data applied to ecology and ecosystem research; First-hand data collection (with fieldwork) and elaboration for fractal analysis, via geometric and arithmetic analysis; Creation of datasets and dataframes, with subsequent training on basic ecological tests (t-test, OLS estimation, bootstrap) in R. Setup of datasets for GIS application
Providing hands-on experience on dataset organization and analysis in ecology, out of direct measurements and observations. Ideally, the course would allow students to apply the skills acquired directly into their thesis project
in person
Assessment based on reports on the different topics of the course, to be illustrated by the students in person
material will be provided during the lesson
