Course description
The LM-56 path develops advanced economic-analysis skills for interpreting complex phenomena, evaluating public policies and supporting decisions in institutional and market contexts, with attention to economic systems and national and international economic policies. The LM-16 path provides specialist skills in finance, focusing on financial markets, the management of risks and financial products, decision-making models for financial and insurance intermediation, regulatory aspects and the measurement of risks (financial, pure, technological and environmental).
The approach is interdisciplinary (economics, statistics, mathematics, finance and law), with a strong orientation towards data analysis and advanced quantitative methods. The programme trains professionals able to model economic and financial phenomena and manage complex scenarios, with outlets in public institutions, international organisations, financial intermediaries, regulatory authorities, companies and consultancy, and opens the way to master's and doctoral programmes.
A shared first year is followed, in the second year, by two paths (financial LM-16 and economic LM-56).
The candidate's preparation is assessed through an oral examination taken before a committee appointed by the Department and made up of three lecturers, which verifies the individual's knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics, general mathematics, statistics and business economics. Candidates deemed suitable by the committee may enrol.
No Additional Learning Requirements are envisaged at admission.
