Course description

The Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences (L-22) is aimed at those wishing to deepen their skills in physical activity and sport. It trains professionals able to plan, conduct and assess physical activities in various educational contexts and athletic training programmes, including at competitive level, with particular attention to psycho-physical wellbeing and the prevention of disorders linked to a sedentary lifestyle.
The programme provides the anatomical, biochemical, biomechanical and physiological knowledge essential to understanding the biological bases of movement and the body's adaptations to exercise, together with the teaching methods for physical and sporting activities and the techniques for measuring and assessing exercise, also useful for correcting postural problems, and the pedagogical foundations for individual and group programmes with people of all ages.
Teaching combines lectures, seminars and technical-practical activities, with periodic and final assessments. From the second year, traineeships are provided in individual and team technical-sporting disciplines, educational activities and preventive-adapted physical activities, including at affiliated bodies (sports clubs, schools, State bodies).
Graduates can work in public and private facilities and in sporting and recreational-social organisations, conducting, managing and assessing physical activities for prevention and wellbeing, and managing individual and group fitness.
Admission to the Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences (L-22) requires an upper secondary school leaving diploma valid for enrolment in university degree programmes under current legislation and the University of Salento's Teaching Regulations.
Enrolled students are required to demonstrate basic skills in the correct written use of Italian, basic knowledge of scientific subjects (mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology) and of sport and movement subjects, at upper secondary school level, and logical skills. These skills and knowledge are verified through a compulsory entrance test (except for the exemptions expressly provided for in the Teaching Regulations); where the result is negative, Additional Learning Requirements (OFA) are assigned.
The procedures for assessing the required knowledge and for clearing OFA are set out in the programme's Teaching Regulations.
Non-EU international students may be admitted in accordance with the rules in force. The number of places reserved for non-EU students is specified in the annual admission call.
