The Bachelor's Degree in Nursing combines theoretical knowledge with practical placements in care settings, in order to train a competent professional serving the individual and the community. The three-year programme qualifies graduates to practise the profession, has a capped admission and is governed by an admission call.
In accordance with current legislation and European Union directives, it trains healthcare professionals who autonomously carry out activities of prevention, care, rehabilitation, palliation and the protection of individual and collective health. Nurses identify health needs, set objectives, plan, manage and evaluate nursing care, ensure the correct application of diagnostic and therapeutic prescriptions and work both independently and in collaboration with other health and social workers.
The theoretical and practical training, with compulsory attendance, comprises 180 CFU and includes theoretical, tutorial (Problem Based Learning, case method) and vocational teaching and individual study, with seminars, laboratories and placements; the placement, in accredited healthcare facilities, is worth 60 CFU over the three years. Erasmus mobility is available.
Graduates may access post-basic training (first-level master's degrees, advanced courses) and the Master's Degree in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences (LM/SNT1). The programme is offered at the Vito Fazzi Hospital in Lecce and replicated at the Pia Fondazione Panico in Tricase (Lecce).
