Course description

The Bachelor's Degree in Social Education and Educational Intervention Techniques (Class L-19), implementing Law 205/2017 and Legislative Decree 65/2017, awards the qualification of 'Socio-pedagogical Professional Educator', geared towards community interventions: in social, recreational-cultural and environmental education services, and in health and social-health settings limited to educational functions. In accordance with Ministerial Decree 378/2018, the programme also allows graduates to work as educators in early-childhood services (ages 0-3) in public/private nurseries.
The socio-cultural educator creates educational settings that support the development of relational, emotional-affective and cognitive skills, promotes personal growth, integration and social participation, and supports groups, communities and individuals. Their work includes organising and managing educational, social and cultural interventions, creating spaces for socialising and mediating conflicts.
The early-childhood educator (0-3) works in nurseries, micro-nurseries, home-based nurseries, baby parking, 'spring sections', company nurseries, mother-and-child communities, paediatric wards and communities for minors; the 0-3 specialisation can be chosen in the third year.
The programme develops foundational skills in the educational sciences and in historical-philosophical-social disciplines, complemented by traineeships, workshops and seminars, and includes the study of at least one foreign language.
Admission requires a five-year upper secondary school diploma or another qualification obtained abroad and recognised as suitable, or a four-year diploma with the relevant integrative year (or, where no longer available, the assigned educational credit). The number of places and the selection procedures are published each year in a specific call.
A good knowledge of the grammatical and syntactic structures of spoken and written Italian is also required, together with the ability to grasp the central meaning of a message, to argue one's own point of view on a familiar topic and to identify the main differences between different theoretical positions.
These skills are assessed through an evaluative entrance test. Students who pass the minimum threshold are admitted without reservation; those who do not are assigned Additional Learning Requirements (OFA) relating to the area of weakness. The programme provides a support path, attendance of which is not compulsory but strongly recommended. The OFA is considered cleared by passing a specific examination or by completing all first-year activities (excluding free-choice ones). Failure to clear it by the date set by the Academic Bodies entails repeating enrolment in the same year.
