Course description

The Course responds to the emerging needs of the tourism industry, considering the dynamics that characterize the global and local tourism market. In particular, the course responds to the demand for managerial skills expressed by destination management organizations and tourism companies, in relation to the importance of an accurate management of natural and cultural heritage and tourists’ experiences. The course adopts a multidisciplinary approach and therefore comprises a wide range of courses using traditional lectures in combination with seminars, case study presentations and discussions, and project works in a variety of fields such as economics, statistics, law, and management as well as in anthropology, psycho-social sciences, history, arts, and languages.
Students must have a high-school diploma or a similar qualification officially recognized as equivalent. Enrollment in the course is free, but requires a mandatory, non-selective test, which provides an initial assessment of the student. The test covers geography, English, and general knowledge. Based on the test score, students might be assigned additional educational obligations (OFA).
Upon completion of the course, students have the skills and competences necessary to work in public and private organizations in the tourism industry. For example, they could work as technicians or managers for local institutions in charge of destination management. In the private sector, they could work as managers for tourism companies, cultural and event organizations, or as consultants.
The final examination consists of a written paper organized into sections agreed by the student and supervisor. The paper is evaluated by an examination committee and not discussed in public. However, students are informed about their final graduation mark during a public proclamation ceremony.
