Course description

The Master's Degree in Euro-Mediterranean Governance of Migration Policies responds to the complexity of contemporary migration flows, moving beyond emergency-based models and training professionals able to govern the phenomenon with multidisciplinary skills. It integrates legal (EU, international and local), economic, sociological and geographical perspectives, placing at its centre the protection of fundamental rights and the dignity of migrants as proactive actors in integration.
The programme balances the needs of security and social cohesion with respect for cultural diversity and human rights. Graduates develop a critical and design-oriented outlook, useful for operating at the various levels of governance and with public, private and third-sector actors, with attention to reception and integration.
Methodologically, it combines theoretical rigour with practical activity: traineeships, internships and workshops in social design and project management develop managerial and IT skills. Collaboration with local and international stakeholders supports entry into national institutions, supranational organisations (EU, IOM) and NGOs in international cooperation.
Its location in the Salento, a crossroads of Mediterranean routes, makes the programme a privileged laboratory for studying migration dynamics and testing inclusive, sustainable solutions, training specialists for active-citizenship policies and a fairer society.
The aim of training professionals skilled in understanding and managing migration at local and European level, together with the programme's cross-disciplinary approach, allows it to be offered to a wide range of applicants. Admission requires general knowledge in the legal and/or political-social and/or historical and/or economic fields, assessed through an interview. Bachelor's graduates in the following classes may apply: L-1 Cultural Heritage; L-5 Philosophy; L-10 Humanities; L-11 Modern Languages and Cultures; L-12 Linguistic Mediation; L-14 Legal Services Sciences; L-15 Tourism Sciences; L-16 Administration and Organisation Sciences; L-18 Economics and Business Management Sciences; L-19 Education and Training Sciences; L-20 Communication Sciences; L-24 Psychological Sciences and Techniques; L-33 Economic Sciences; L-36 Political and International Relations Sciences; L-37 Social Sciences for Cooperation, Development and Peace; L-39 Social Work; L-40 Sociology; as well as Master's graduates in Law (LMG/01). The assessment of initial knowledge, which is essential given the varied range of applicants, takes place through an interview with a committee appointed by the competent bodies.
