Course description

An international Master's degree taught in English, aimed at Bachelor's graduates in the humanities who wish to acquire computing skills to work with digital technologies in the knowledge and enhancement of cultural heritage and in the management of collections (museums, archives, libraries).
Heir to the EuroMACHS and Digital Humanities experiences and part of the PNRR project 'Territorial Pact of the Apulian University System', it integrates knowledge of European and Mediterranean heritage with developments in ICT and Artificial Intelligence, including security, privacy and data protection, to train experts able to work in the Information Society, in the public and private sectors.
The two-year path alternates computing courses (databases, web and mobile applications, virtual and augmented reality, digital environments for fruition) and humanities courses (management and processing of heritage data, cataloguing, digital dissemination, landscape archaeology, GIS, virtual restoration, historical archives), as well as project management, the legal field, laboratories (GIS, HBIM, gaming, 3D, AI) and traineeships.
The programme trains 'soft-STEM' profiles that enhance humanistic knowledge through ICT, broadening career prospects beyond teaching and the public sector: museums, archives, libraries, cultural and creative enterprises, bodies and foundations, and cultural and tourism services. Graduates may continue with doctorates, including the National Doctorate in Heritage Science.
Enrolment requires a Bachelor's degree in one of the following classes: Cultural Heritage (L-1); Figurative Arts, Music, Performing Arts and Fashion (L-3); Philosophy (L-5); Humanities (L-10); Modern Languages and Cultures (L-11); Communication Sciences (L-20); Technologies for the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (L-43). Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with at least 54 CFU in the disciplinary fields L-ANT/01-10, L-ART/01-08, L-FIL-LET/01-15, L-LIN/01-21, ICAR/18, M-STO/01-09, M-GGR/01-02, M-FIL/01-08.
Basic computing skills and a knowledge of English at level B2 are also required.
Regardless of the curricular requirements, an assessment of the candidate's preparation is provided, in the ways set out in the Regulations, covering basic knowledge of: the ancient civilisations of the Mediterranean area; the methods of historical and archaeological research; and medieval and modern art history.
International students for whom the assessment of Italian is not passed must undertake the 'further language knowledge' laboratory activity in Italian. No Additional Learning Requirements are envisaged at admission.
