Course description
The course of study is structured in a single curriculum, which will allow students to acquire the linguistic (including English), semiotic, literary, sociological, socio-economic, historical-political, philosophical, pedagogical and psychological knowledge necessary to scientifically investigate the various forms of communication; the logical knowledge and computer tools that are today the main vehicle of these forms of communication; the methods specific to research on the media and the dynamics of use and consumption; the critical skills needed to analyze the historical, political, economic, social and legal contexts of communication processes.
In addition to the disciplinary activities, there are laboratory activities: writing workshop, cultural event organization workshop, public speaking workshop, web design workshop, press office and public relations workshop.
The teaching program follows a schedule that takes into account the progression of the ongoing training objectives and the general objectives at the end of the three-year period.
The theoretical and general teachings are placed between the first and second year, to offer students the conceptual bases and methods to analyze and critically understand the main formats, means and genres of contemporary communication, including the new forms connected to digital media and the Internet, and the use of different languages and sign systems in the interpersonal, micro and macro social spheres.
The applied and laboratory-based teachings are taught between the second and third year, when the training activities are also supported by internship activities – carried out in businesses, private companies, organizations and public administrations – which allow students to directly experience contact with the world of work in view of their future professional activity.
These training and internship activities are integrated with stays in universities in other European countries within the framework of national and international agreements (Erasmus agreements).
The training offer is finally enhanced with numerous opportunities to meet and learn from professionals and experts from the world of culture, information and communication hosted as speakers in the training seminars that are periodically organized by the course of study and which are also valid for the purposes of recognizing the credits to be acquired in the three-year period among the activities freely chosen by the student.
The initial preparation is verified by means of an entrance test aimed at ascertaining the possession of specific knowledge in the
logical-linguistic subjects and general culture in the Social Sciences.
The verification methods, the indication of the additional training obligations (OFA) envisaged in the event of a negative test and finally the methods with which the same must be filled are detailed in the Course Teaching Regulations.
