Course description

The three-year study course provides interdisciplinary education to prepare sociologists for social research, as well as for planning and management of social policies, particularly those related to exclusion and marginalisation.
The course offers two different programmes: 'Professional Sociology and Didactics of the Human Sciences', and ‘Crime and Deviance'. The latter focuses in particular on the sociological study of marginalisation, as well as on the legal and psychological aspects of crime. Both programmes provide teaching on the foundations of sociological disciplines, methodology of social research, statistics, as well as historical, anthropological, legal and economic knowledge, training students for the analysis of social phenomena on the basis of multidisciplinary knowledge.
Students are required to possess basic knowledge of the development of contemporary society, and fundamental notions relating to the structure of the State, citizenship, and emerging social problems. Yearly remedial courses are organised, aimed at filling gaps in the requirements for admission. The adequacy of the initial preparation is verified by orientation tests.
Career opportunitie envisaged by the degree course are: social research activities, activities related to social integration and combating deviance and marginalisation,
operators in public and private administrations, with a focus on public policy planning.
The final examination will consist of an assessment by a specific committee of a paper. Critical ability, inclination towards research, autonomy of judgement and argumentative capacity will be assessed for the purposes of the final judgement.
