The Department of Cultural Heritage is one of the main research and teaching centers for Cultural Heritage (Art History, Archaeology, Music and Performing Arts) in southern Italy. Focused on interdisciplinary approaches the Department’s staff includes scholars and researchers, from both humanities and scientific-technological areas. The Department offers 2 Undergraduate and 3 Graduate Degrees, 1 International Graduate Degree, a PhD programme in Sciences for Cultural Heritage and a School of Specialization in Archeology; it count on owns 28 scientific and educational Laboratories, the Historical-Archaeological Museum - MUSA and a large Collection of Contemporary Art (video).
Research activities, that encompass from Prehistory to Contemporary arts, have been carried thanks to several national and international projects founded by MUR (Ministry for University and Research), MAE (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) and European Union (FP7 programs).
They include numerous archaeological excavations in Italy and abroad (Malta, Turkey, Iran), several agreements with research institutes, universities and museums in Europe, Asia, Africa and America.
