Teaching description
Nessuno / No requirements
The course examines the various forms of value that films, and audiovisual works more broadly, generate for the stakeholders involved in their production, distribution, and consumption. It explores how films address a wide range of interests and needs, thereby emerging as complex cultural products shaped by multiple processes of negotiation among diverse actors.
By providing a comprehensive understanding of these dynamics, the course enables students to develop a deeper awareness of the role of audiovisual media in contemporary society. At the same time, it equips them with the knowledge and skills required to facilitate their entry into professional contexts—including production and distribution companies, public institutions, film festivals, film commissions, and other organizations engaged in the creation, dissemination, and enhancement of audiovisual heritage.
1) conoscenza e capacità di comprensione: studenti e studentesse conosceranno in maniera approfondita il funzionamento dell’industria del cinema e dell’audiovisivo sapendo mettere in relazione dinamiche di mercato e politiche pubbliche;
3) autonomia di giudizio: studenti e studentesse saranno in grado di valutare criticamente le evoluzioni del settore identificando potenzialità e possibili rischi delle evoluzioni normative e di mercato;
4) abilità comunicative: studenti e studentesse sapranno utilizzare il linguaggio specifico del settore, anche in riferimento alle normative vigenti;
The course is designed to achieve the following learning outcomes:
1) Knowledge and understanding: Students will acquire an in-depth understanding of the film and audiovisual industries, developing the ability to analyse the relationship between market dynamics and public policies.
2) Applying knowledge and understanding: Students will be able to apply the knowledge acquired during the course to geographical contexts not specifically addressed in class (e.g. foreign countries) as well as to future scenarios shaped by the rapid evolution of the sector.
3) Making judgements: Students will develop the ability to critically assess developments in the film and audiovisual industries, identifying both the opportunities and the potential risks arising from changes in market conditions and regulatory frameworks.
4) Communication skills: Students will be able to use the specialised terminology of the sector appropriately, including language related to the relevant regulatory framework.
5) Learning skills: Students will develop the skills necessary to pursue independent research by identifying and critically engaging with reliable and authoritative sources.
The course is delivered through lectures supported by presentation slides, which will be made available to students progressively throughout the semester, and by selected audiovisual materials. Students will also participate in a group project involving the design of a crowdfunding campaign for an audiovisual work, culminating in in-class presentations of their proposals.

< 18: valutazione insufficiente; preparazione insufficiente; presentazione insufficiente
