For the recognition of foreign qualifications, the University of Salento follows the procedures laid down by the Ministry and refers to the Centre for Information on Mobility and Academic Equivalences (Cimea), established on the initiative of the Rui Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MiUR). Cimea is the Italian centre of the Naric (National Academic Recognition Information) network, whose main objectives are:

• to inform citizens about the opportunities and procedures for the recognition of foreign qualifications
• to advise institutions on the comparability of foreign qualifications for the purposes of their recognition
• to promote the free movement of EU citizens and the international mobility of students
