Language Requirements
Language requirements for Master’s Degree programmes are defined autonomously by each Department and specified in the relevant admission calls.

Programmes taught in English
English language proficiency is assessed during the admission test or
Some departments accept a certification of English language proficiency at B2 level
The MOI (Medium of Instruction), an official document issued by the applicant’s home university certifying the language in which the courses were taught and the degree was awarded.
(However, applicants are still required to attend an interview to assess their actual level of language proficiency)

Programmes taught in Italian
To enrol, you will need to:- Provide an Italian language certificate at least B2 level or higher (CEFR)
OR
- Take the online Italian Language Proficiency Test offered by the University of Salento.

Academic Requirements
To apply, you must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent first‑cycle qualification);
- Meet the specific academic requirements set out in the relevant admission call (e.g. academic background, required credits, or additional criteria).
The official rules for the entry, stay and enrolment of international students, as well as the recognition of qualifications, are defined by the Circular of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
To complete the enrollment process, international students must submit the following documentation to the Admissions Office.
1. First‑cycle higher education qualification
A final qualification corresponding to a first‑cycle degree (Bologna Process) or EQF Level 6, valid for access to the second cycle of studies in the country of origin and without substantial differences compared to the corresponding Italian qualification.
2. Transcript of Records
An official Transcript of Records listing all examinations passed.
The Transcript of Records may be replaced by a Diploma Supplement, where adopted and provided that it includes all information required by the European Qualifications Framework.
3. Sworn or officially legalized translation (into Italian or English)
A translation of the documents listed under points 1 and 2 is required unless they are issued in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, or German.
4. Documents Demonstrating Correspondence to the Italian System
Related to the qualifications listed under points 1 and 2.
Submit one of the following:
- CIMEA Statement of Comparability, or
- ARDI Statement of Correspondence (if available for the country where you obtained your qualification), or
- Declaration of Value, issued by the competent Italian Embassy/Consulate.
5. Documents Demonstrating the Authenticity of the Qualification
Related to the qualifications listed under points 1 and 2.
Submit one of the following:
- CIMEA Verification Statement, or
- Apostille (Hague Convention), or
- Legalisation, or
- Official online verification systems.
6. Italian Language Requirement (Level B2 CEFR)
For Master’s Degree programmes taught in Italian

Submit an official Italian language certificate (B2 CEFR) issued by nationally or internationally recognized certification bodies (also available through Italian Cultural Institutes abroad). Certificates may be obtained in the country of origin through authorized centres.
OR
Pass the Italian Language Proficiency Test organized online by the University.
Dates, times, and modalities are published annually on the university website.
NON‑EU STUDENTS RESIDING ABROAD
(Students who require a study visa – mandatory procedure via Universitaly)
Follow the steps below carefully:

Choose the degree programme and read the relevant Call for Admission (Bando di ammissione).

Pre‑enroll on Universitaly.it (If you choose an Italian‑taught programme) to begin the official study visa process and connect with the University. (instructions); If you choose an English‑taught programme, please continue following the procedures, you will complete them at Step 8.

Wait for the validation of your Universitaly application by the University.

After validation and visa issuance, proceed with enrolment (instructions) (the enrolment procedure becomes available only after Universitaly validation and visa approval).

Pay the first tuition instalment.

Book an appointment with the Admissions Office admissions@unisalento.it, indicating your arrival date in Italy, in order to complete administrative procedures and official verification of your academic qualifications.
EU STUDENTS AND NON‑EU STUDENTS LEGALLY RESIDING IN ITALY
(No study visa required – no Universitaly pre‑enrolment)

International students pay a flat‑tax, with no ISEE Parificato required.
- The tuition fees are:
€1,000 per academic year, paid in 3 instalments
(approx. €333.33 each)
First instalment only includes additional mandatory charges:
- Regional Tax for the Right to Education: approx. €190
- Virtual stamp duty: €16
Students holding international protection status are fully exempt from tuition fees, according to current regulations.

- Restricted‑access programmes:
by the deadline stated in the Call for Admission (Bando di ammissione) published by each Department
- Open‑access programmes:
by the first week of November for citizen of the European Union or non‑EU citizen legally residing in Italy (also the final deadline for enrolment)
by 31 of January for non‑EU citizen requiring a visa to enter Italy (also the final deadline for enrolment)
Second instalment: by the end of March
Third instalment: by the end of June

Useful Tip
We strongly recommend checking the scholarship websites regularly, reviewing previous calls, and respecting all deadlines, as late applications are not accepted.
