Course description

The Master's Degree in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences - Nursing Profile (Class LM/SNT1) trains professionals with advanced functions in health and social-health services, with particular reference to the organisational, training and research fields. Admission is subject to the curricular requirements and to an assessment of the candidate's preparation, in accordance with the Teaching Regulations and the admission calls.
The two-year programme (120 CFU) integrates nursing, organisational, methodological, legal and economic disciplines, with content on data analysis, health information systems and the conscious use of new technologies, to manage and evaluate services in complex contexts. It also includes teaching and tutoring methods for designing, delivering and evaluating training interventions in academic and professional settings.
Teaching includes lectures, exercises, laboratories and placements; assessment takes place through examinations, evaluation of practical activities and a final dissertation. The vocational placement at health and social-health facilities is a qualifying element.
Master's graduates can carry out coordination and management functions in health and social-health services, contribute to organisational development, take part in training and research activities and access advanced training paths. The programme integrates clinical, organisational and methodological areas, with attention to technologies and health information systems.
Admission to the Master's Degree in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences - Nursing Profile has capped admission at national level under Law No. 264/1999. The number of places is set each year by Ministerial Decree.
Candidates meeting the curricular requirements for class LM/SNT-1 may apply, namely holders of a degree or other qualification enabling them to practise the health professions included in the class, or of an equivalent qualification under current legislation.
In particular, a qualifying Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification is required in the following health professions:
- nurse, under Ministerial Decree No. 739 of 14 September 1994 and subsequent amendments;
- paediatric nurse, under Ministerial Decree No. 70 of 17 January 1997 and subsequent amendments.
Admission is subject to passing a selective test assessing the candidate's preparation, in the ways set each year by the Ministry and by the admission call.
Qualifications obtained abroad are assessed under current legislation.
