Course description
The Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering and Electronic Technologies trains engineers able to hold technical and technical-organisational roles in the design, production, operation and maintenance of modern telecommunications, navigation and remote-sensing systems and of the applications and services based on them.
The training deepens the main enabling principles and technologies:
- the physical-layer transmission techniques of modern equipment (modulation formats, equalisation, multiple access), statistical signal processing and the principles of resource design and allocation in telecommunications networks;
- the CAD of antennas and electromagnetic (EM) circuits, EM compatibility, radio-propagation models and radio-coverage optimisation;
- the aspects of circuit electronics and devices of interest to telecommunications.
The training is completed by an overview of modern digital communication systems, showing how principles and techniques are applied to each system, with particular emphasis on latest-generation cellular networks and navigation systems. A wide range of theses and company internships is also available, useful for making contact with the world of work.

Admission to the Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering and Electronic Technologies requires the curricular requirements (including an adequate knowledge of English) and adequate individual preparation.
The curricular requirements correspond to the objectives of the Bachelor's degree in the Information Engineering class (Class 9 of Ministerial Decree 509/1999 and Class 8 of Ministerial Decree 270/2004), namely:
- a Bachelor's degree, a three-year university diploma, a Specialist or Master's degree (Ministerial Decree 509/1999 or 270/2004) from an Italian university, or a five-year degree predating Ministerial Decree 509/1999, or an equivalent qualification;
- at least 40 CFU (or equivalent knowledge for foreign qualifications) in the disciplinary fields of the basic activities of the Information Engineering class;
- at least 60 CFU (or equivalent knowledge) in the characterising fields of the same class;
- passing an English proficiency test or a certification of at least level B2 of the CEFR (not required for native speakers).
A dedicated Committee assesses the personal preparation of students meeting the requirements, in accordance with the Teaching Regulations. Non-native Italian speakers must provide certification of adequate knowledge of Italian; where this is missing, knowledge is verified at the interview and, if not passed, activities for learning/improving Italian are added to the study path.
