Course description

The Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology belongs to Class L-2 (Biotechnology) and lasts three years.
Enrolment requires the compulsory assessment of initial preparation, according to the terms and procedures set out in the 'admission requirements' section of this programme sheet and in the relevant admission call.
The programme aims to train graduates with a sound command of the tools and skills across the various fields of the biotechnological disciplines for the production of goods and services, enabling them to continue their studies towards more specific areas of biotechnology.
To obtain the final qualification, students must acquire at least 180 CFU (University Credits).
The programme has a limited number of places (local admission planning).

Entry requirements:
Admission requires an upper secondary school diploma or another qualification obtained abroad and recognised as suitable. For access and successful participation, applicants are expected to have a good basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, together with adequate reasoning and comprehension skills. Admission is subject to a capped number of places.

Assessment of initial preparation:
Applicants sit an entrance test verifying the required knowledge. The test is normally held in the first ten days of September and consists of multiple-choice questions on basic scientific knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, based on upper secondary school syllabi. If applications exceed the available places, a selective ranking list is drawn up. Where the assessment is not satisfactory, Additional Learning Requirements (OFA) are assigned, to be fulfilled during the first year.

Sustainable intake:
The number of places is set annually pursuant to Law No. 264 of 2 August 1999.
