The course aim to provide solid mathematical skills concerning topics, methods and techniques. The proposed activities permit to follow curricula in either theoretical or applied mathematics. There are two curricula: - "Generale": it emphasizes abstract aspects and methodological precision. It aims to aquire specific techniques of high mathematical level in Algebra, Matematical Analysis and Geometry. - "Applicativo": it encompasses teaching activities and stages aimed to provide a solid knowledge in the main areas of applied mathematics, with particular regard to modeling and numerical and statistical methods, which permit to tackle the study of real problems.
Free (not programmed)
In order to be admitted to the course, a student must possess a bachelor degree in Mathematics (or a corresponding degree obtained abroad) and pass an interview, about his/her mathematical and language skills. Students must possess at least level B2 proficiency in English. There are compulsory checks of possession of these requirements. The procedures for checking academic requirements are indicated in the Course Regulations, published on the university website.
The employment opportunities and professional activities refer to positions: - in the private sector, in modeling and service companies of all sizes and specialisations, or in organisations that use modern digital technologies; - in public institutions.
The final exam consists of an essay, prepared by the student under the supervision of a teacher, in a mathematical topic connected with the courses included in the student's plan. The essay must contain elements of orogonality and prove that the student is able to: understand mathematical books and papers of advanced level; master the knowledge aquired during his/her studies; contribute to the solution of mathematical problems; communicate in a clear way mathematical problems, ideas and solutions.
