Course overview/Course outline

The Civ. Eng. M.Sc. course aims to provide a deep knowledge in two main fields: structural engineering; hydraulic and environmental engineering. The students are free to choose their track in order to strengthen their knowledge in those topics that result more attractive. The first possibility is to study the problems of structural engineering, including the advanced theory of structures; design of steel structures; dynamics of structures; seismic analysis and design; special structures; structural testing and monitoring; strengthening and repair of existing construction, including architectural heritage. The second path is related to the topics of hydraulic engineering and environmental problems: coastal engineering; advanced hydraulic problems including underground waters; design and management of maritime construction; environmental geotechnics; environmental planning and technical codes;

Access to the programme

The access is preceded by a motivational colloquium. Those students that exhibit the right attitude will be admitted without any limitations in terms of number,

Admission Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

Career opportunities

Career opportunities strongly increased in the last decade, covering different fields: engineering companies; construction firms; research in public and private institutions; construction materials industries; free-lance consultancy; engineer in a public institution; water treatment big companies; global companies in the field of structural design, retrofitting and maintenance; environmental specialist.
