Inter-Asia - Department of Engineering for Innovation

The Inter-Asia fellows from and to China have been selected within the framework of an Agreement for Students & Staff Exchange Program and Education Cooperation in force between the Department of Innovation for Engineering and the School of Management, Jinan University (China), aimed at fostering and developing cooperative relationships by student, academic exchanges and joint research activities and programs.

The activities of Inter-Asia fellows have been framed within the students’ exchanges set up between the Master Degree Program in Management Engineering held at the Department of Engineering for Innovation in Lecce for incoming fellows, and the Sino-International MBA held at the School of Management of Jinan University in Guangzhou for outgoing fellows. In addition, all the fellows have had the opportunity to collaborate to joint research activities in place between the Departments’ management engineering faculties and labs at the School of Management’s Center for Industrial Technology, Economy and Management (CITEM). 

More specifically within joint EU Projects and themes of common interests related to the management of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship established in the agreements in place.

Activities and results carried out within the Inter-Asia project

During the project Inter-Asia fellows joined curricular courses foreseen in respective study plans.

More specifically, the 6 incoming fellows from China attended and completed with profit the following courses within the University of Salento’s Master of Engineering Management:

  • Digital Business
  • Innovation Management
  • Technological Entrepreneurship

In addition, four of them expressed the interest to collaborate to research activities with management engineering faculties and labs. Two research project works have been crafted about:

  1. Brand and Territory Promotion by means of Touchable Video
  2. Innovation in Chinese Private and State-owned Companies

In the first project, one fellow collaborated to the realization of a feasibility study about the possibility to use touchable video for brands and territory promotion. In the second project, three fellows collaborated to undertake a thorough analysis of innovation performance in Chinese enterprises, using an alternative approach to classify private and state-owned companies and producing a descriptive analysis along a number of key characteristics.

The 3 outgoing fellows from University of Salento attended and completed with profit the following courses within the Jinan University’s Sino-International MBA:

  • Operation Management
  • Strategic Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Financial Management
  • Financial Markets and Investment Strategy
  • Strategic Brand Management
  • Market Research
  • Business Negotiation
  • Management Consulting

In addition, they participated to seminars and activities organized by the Center for Industrial Technology, Economy and Management (CITEM) related to the topics of Industrial Technology Roadmapping and Knowledge and Innovation in Emerging Market Firms.

Incoming-outgoing students involved

  • 6 incoming students from China to Italy, of which two in the 1st semester and four in the 2nd semester;
  • 3 outgoing students from Italy to China, all in the 2nd semester.
